Jestem niezależnym konsultantem i architektem danych, od ponad 30 lat pracuję w obszarze danych i systemów informacyjnych. W swojej karierze pełniłem role od inżyniera danych i analityka, przez architekta, po lidera zespołów "data", dzięki czemu na problemy zarządzania danymi patrzę zarówno z perspektywy technicznej, jak i biznesowej. Pracowałem dla bankowości, ubezpieczeń, sektora publicznego, mediów, telekomunikacji, farmacji, produkcji, sprzedaży i logistyki. W mojej pracy szczególnie interesuje mnie, co dzieje się z danymi w przestrzeni pomiędzy opisaniem ich przez biznes, procesem który odzwierciedlają, modelem i rozwiązaniem technicznym. W pracy łączę architekturę danych, modelowanie, Data Governance i Data Quality, starając się przekładać je na konkretne rezultaty projektowe. Jako niezależny konsultant zachowuję przy tym perspektywę pozwalającą kwestionować rozwiązania, które dobrze wyglądają na papierze, ale nie działają w praktyce.

I am an independent Data Architect and consultant, working with data since the early 1990s and running my own consulting practice since 2000. My background is rooted in traditional data warehousing, relational databases and information systems, but my work has gradually expanded towards the broader discipline of Data Management. I combine data architecture and modelling with business analysis, Data Governance and Data Quality. I am particularly interested in the space between business meaning, processes, data models and technical implementation - where many data problems actually begin. Over the years I have worked with organisations in banking, insurance, the public sector, media, telecommunications, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, as well as sales and logistics. I have worked in roles ranging from analyst and data engineer to architect and team leader. This has given me the opportunity to see data initiatives from different sides: business expectations, analytical needs, operational processes, engineering constraints and architectural decisions. I do not see frameworks, standards or tools as substitutes for thinking. They are useful means of creating a common language and making decisions repeatable, but their value depends on people who understand the business, communicate across organizational boundaries and are willing to take responsibility for the meaning and quality of data. My typical engagements result in tangible, reusable outcomes: business and data models, architectural assessments, target-state architectures, data strategies, governance approaches, implementation roadmaps, source-to-target mappings and improvements to data integration. I also care about making knowledge explicit and durable - embedded in models and other project artefacts rather than remaining only in conversations or in the heads of individuals. Today, I help organizations make their data initiatives more coherent - connecting data architecture to business and delivery.
